Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspo Right Out of my Closet

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that sneaks up on us. We just got out of the formal “holiday season” (Thanksgiving – New Years), have sludged through the back to work lull of things, and now all of a sudden are shoved into the season of hearts and love.

In today’s article, rather than doing a roundup of things I found online, I decided to find Valentine’s Day outfit inspo right from within my own closet doors. This will allow me to tell you my exact thoughts on all of the items and their sizing completely down to my own.

Valentine's Day Outfit ideas for every date night

Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspo for Every Date

From Valentines to Galentines, friends to husbands, everyone deserves a little time with the ones they love this holiday season! Think about it: Valentine’s Day is the only holiday this quarter of the year that allows for big, decorative celebrations! Plus, don’t you just love love?

No matter what you are doing or where you are going, I have an outfit suggestion for you.

1 - Galentine’s Dinner with the Girls

Galentine’s Day is the day you wear pink, drink too much prosecco, and wait until that one friend starts to cry about how much she loves you all. You want to be cute, yet casual, which is why I suggest this comfy sweater dress and structured set of boots. This look is so simple that it can be replicated each year, dressed up or down. No matter where you are going, you’ll have a base outfit to work with. Personally, I love to pair it with a set of classic hoops (huggie or standard) and my fav lipstick shade.

2 - Relaxed Holiday Date

Whether you’re staying home or doing something chill like a movie, this is my FAVORITE sweater for the occasion. Pink and red – so in theme for the holiday – and so soft and warm. It is slightly oversized, which makes it all the more comfy.

Want a quick and easy way to style it and be ready to go? Throw on a pair of light wash jeans, mules, and some huggie earrings (these come in silver and gold and are beyond lightweight. I often forget I am wearing them).

This particular pair of mules is under $50 and comes in black brown, and fur lined! I live in them. Not feeling the style? Check out my round up of loafers and mules at all different price points!

3 - Valentine’s Day a little more Upscale

It’s a date! Let’s get you ready for a night on the town. Whether you are going out on actual Valentine’s Day or a few days later, this jacquard skirt is such a go to. It contains just enough pink to scream “love” without being over the top.

Pair it with a suede moto jacket and some pointed toe heeled mules and be ready for wherever the night takes you!

The suede moto jacket I am wearing in the photo is out of stock in emerald, but still is in stock in burgundy (which is perfect for this holiday)! Click here to shop it, or click here to shop one super similar to mine in another shade of green.

4 - First Holiday with the new Beaux

Text asking new date to valentines day dinner

The first holiday – no, first Valentine’s Day – with a new date by your side?! This can be a little stressful, especially if you aren’t quite sure what you guys are or even how you’re feeling about this relationship yet! For this situation, I recommend keeping it simple. Cute! But simple. I would opt for a neutral colored sweater dress. A midi sweater dress that can be dressed up or down is my favorite option, because then no matter what yall are doing you look *prepared*. I’d pair this look with a pair of simple mules or sneakers. If he tells you where you’re going, you can plan this accordingly. If not, go check out my mules guide and pick some out that’ll make you feel cute and ready for the day.

Finally – layers will always win in situations like this. Add on a suede moto jacket or an oversized plaid blazer that can be taken on or off depending on where you go. You’re now ready for the day, look ready for the day, and are going to have a blast, no matter where it (and he) takes you.

5 - Celebrating Straight from Work

This option may not be ideal / a little stressful, but in all honesty – he’s doing you a favor. Sure, you may be tired after a long day sitting under some fluorescent lighting, but at least you only have to pick out one outfit!

Celebrating Valentine’s Day straight from work can be done in the simplest manner possible. I would start with a pencil skirt. It is easy, it fits both vibes, and – pardon my french – it’ll make your ass look freaking fire. My skirt is faux leather, and is easily one of my favorite closet pieces. I have found highly rated versions of this white leather pencil skirt beauty in both an investment piece price point (click here) and a budget price point (click here). From there, I would add my favorite Amazon sweater in the color of your choosing (I’m wearing the blue) for comfort and style. Tuck it in and you are ready for your date! Pair this look with some neutral structured boots, and know you are ready to turn heads all the way from the office to the bar.
