1 - The Most Popular Red under $20

Rich and concentrated, this full-bodied wine displays alluring layers of boysenberry and cherry, along with hints of star anise and caramel. On the palate, ripe and juicy berry flavors are underscored by plush tannins that carry the wine to a long, silky finish.

2 - A Universal Favorite Cab

This Napa Valley favorite offers deep colors, supple silky tannins, and flavors of vibrant black cherry, candied blackberry, with a hint of coffee, dark chocolate, and spice all leading to a lingering and delightful finish.

3 - My Favorite Wine's Fancy Older Sister

I’ve written about the original, $15 Jlohr (my favorite) many of times. This one is even better, just at a slightly higher price point.

This Hilltop specialty has complex aromas of black cherries and blackberries with a bouquet of cedar, anise, licorice, tar and vanilla toasted oak. It’s a very dark, red-purple color (I always feel like a vampire when sipping it).

4 - A Wine Advocate High Rank, Low Price Find

Rated 92 by Wine Advocate, Daou is fresh and floral scented cab with a medium body. It is silky, elegant, and a great buy for the money.

5 - A Wine List Favorite

This wine actually just got added to this list recently. I had it for a going away dinner for my cousin, and it was absolutely delicious. It is from my favorite wine region in the US – Paso Robles.  I loved the flavor’s mix of soft red berry, vanilla, and oak flavors. The maker lists it as “earthy”, but I really didn’t get that vibe (I’m not a fan of smokey wines).

6 - An Elegant, Small Batch Treat

While this bottle is a little more pricey than the others … it is such a treat. Raspberries and blackberries aid both the scent and the flavor in “The Doctor”. It is a full bodied wine and made in small batches. No wonder it was rated a 95 by Wine Advocate last year!

7 - From a Favorite of Mine

This is one of my favorite wineries in Napa. The best fun fact – all of their barrels are kept in a cave! This wine has amazing flavors of berry and black cherry and is full bodied. The finish is velvety and full. It is an intense sip and would pair well with a delicious meal.
