Splurge vs Save: Everyday Jewelry
Everyday jewelry: let’s talk about it! Everyone has those pieces they gravitate towards. Some people, like me, keep it simple. On a daily basis, I wear my wedding rings and the promise ring my husband gave me in college when we were long distance. When I leave the house to go run errands, I have a few pairs of stud earrings I rotate through and two nice bracelets I clasp on. It takes a lot for me to “get dressed up”.
Other’s – on the other hand – like to get dressed up in jewelry everyday. I applaud these people and honestly wish I were more like them. Jewelry makes one look together. It can make or break an outfit, be a statement, or just something that is kind of there. The thing about your everyday jewelry, though, is that you feel naked when you’re not wearing it. That’s what brings us here today: if the piece is going to be something you wear constantly, it’s worth splurging on.
In today’s article, I’m going to be covering:
- What I consider a “splurge”
- When to splurge vs when to save on jewelry
- Save vs Splurge Finds (and which one I would recommend)
What do I Consider a Splurge?
To me, anything over $100 is a splurge. I’m truly not a big spender, especially when it comes to jewelry. I also like the simpler things in life, so unless it’s something that falls under that category, I know it wouldn’t be smart to put my money towards it.
When to Splurge and When to Save on Everyday Jewelry
When to Splurge vs When to save on Jewelry
The real question of the day: when is it okay to splurge, and when should I go the cheaper route when it comes to buying jewelry? Here’s my personal thoughts on this.
Splurge:
- Items you will wear every single day
- Items that, if you take care of them, will last forever
- Staples that are timeless – think simple hoops, tennis bracelet, pearl earrings
- An item that you initially bought the “save” version of, but now want to upgrade
Save
- Items that are “trendy” or ever changing
- When giving a gift without knowing the other person’s style
- Items that don’t go with much or you won’t wear as often
