The Top 5: Top Color Trends for Summer
While there are lots of colors typically associated with summer (think white, cream …), there are five this year that are turning heads. Today on The Top 5, we are talking about the top color trends for summer.
Cherry Reds
Of all of the colors on everyone’s radar this season, bright, vibrant red is the one stealing the show and making a statement. Showcased in everything from Vogue to Style Academy, Stylecaster to WhoWhatWear, this color trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Icy Blues
Whether you call them glacial, sky, ocean, or powder … icy blues are trending! There is something cool and refreshing about this shade on a hot summer day. This is my favorite color trend for my “beige” girlies. It is such an easy way to add a pop of color to an otherwise monochrome outfit! Add a simple powdery blue accessory as a pop with a white dress, or a glacial blue sarong over a nude bikini!
Basic Browns
Neutrals have been a standard to every closet since the day “fashion” became mainstream. These items allow all dressers to have staples in which to mix and match, particularly those who don’t enjoy spending money on pricey items that are simply “trending”. Basic browns, like navy, are a staple that is so luxe and simple, yet often neglected. If you’re a basic black and white dresser, I want to challenge you to mix some earth tones into your closet this late summer and early fall, particularly dark and milk chocolate browns.
Pistachio Greens
Pistachio green is one of this season’s colors I have played around with the least. I do love the softness of it and how it can be such a simple and subtle outfit add! While Refinery 29 referred to this color as “citrus zest”, I have mostly seen chartreuse, moss, and, most of all (and what I agree with the most) pistachio.
Pastel Purples
Whether you refer to these pastel colors as lavender like Stylecater, purple pastels like Style Academy, of lilac like Marie Claire and Vogue, we are all talking about the same beautiful, fair, delightful pale purple. This shade is so feminine yet eye catching. I hope it doesn’t go into hiding after this year! If deep purples don’t work for you, this is the shade you need to try!
