A wedding shower is a very important part of a bride’s (or couple’s) journey to the altar, and should not be overlooked just because of social distancing rules! Bridesmaids – it’s our time to step up and throw our dear bride friends a virtual shower.
Where to Even Begin
First and foremost, you need to talk to the bride about who she wants in her shower, where she is registered… you know, all of the normal things you have to do for a regular shower.
Now the fun can begin.
Send out Evites to Your Guests
My personal favorite Evite site is Paperless Post because it allows the list creator to see who has RSVPed, declined, etc. It also has lots of free designs, so you have a lot of options on how to make the actual evite.
Information to Include on the Invite
- What it is
- What platform you are using (Zoom, Webex, Skype, etc.)
- Date, time
- Theme (I’ll get into this a little bit more in a second)
- Where the bride is registered at
- RSVP deadline
Pick a Theme
This is the FUN part. Having a theme for your virtual wedding shower is what will set it apart from all of the other Zoom calls you are having.
How do we do this? Easy. Let’s take, for example, if you are having a fiesta themed party, you can request all attendees have a hot pink or green backdrop behind them (think sheet or table cover), be drinking margaritas, and order a certain type of glass.
Once people begin to RSVP, you can either 1) mail theme stuff to each of the attendee’s houses or 2) send them a list of suggested theme items to have. If you are the shower thrower, you may even be able to venmo everyone and have them order the items off Amazon or Target or wherever themselves so you aren’t stuck dealing with all of that.
Order Your Gift
Order a gift to surprise your bride! If wrapping options are available, take advantage. You want your girl to feel as loved as possible during this crazy time!
The Day of
Get ready, because it is virtual shower day! It is time to celebrate your bride-to-be.
Set up
Get your virtual set up ready to go! Hang the colored banner behind where you are going to be “Zooming” from, get together all of your decorations, grab your fancy glass, and charge your computer.
Get Ready
Treat this as if it were a real shower – you want to look good! Put on a little bit of makeup, do your hair, and get dressed in a cute top. Need one? I got you covered. Some of my current favs are below.
The Bride Wears White
Obviously, the bride needs to be in white – it’s her wedding shower! Check out the below dresses and tops that are completely bride ready.
The Event
It is now time to virtually celebrate your favorite bride, so let’s make it a REAL celebration! Have some traditional bridal games prepped and ready to go to make the entire experience fun. Let the bride open some gifts over the call, and make the experience as fun as possible, even if it is virtual. Don’t forget to get a pic toasting the bride to be! Even if it is different, I can promise you it will be a shower she will never forget.
