Affordable Fall Home Decor: The Easiest Ways to Dress Up Your Home for the Season
In the ever growing consumerism that is how we live these days, it is easy to feel pressure to be the cutest house on the block. Every influencer imaginable is spending hundreds on mumms to line their homes and shilling decor beyond your wildest dreams to make your place into an autumn wonderland.
Simple, Reusable Home Decor
Though I love decorating as much as the next person, I am a huge fan of, wait for it, simple. For starters, I work a lot. There is not a lot of time for me to clamour around and stand on my tiptoes hanging festive bats and Hogwarts candles from my ceilings.
My fiance and I live in a modest, two bedroom apartment. While it is absolutely perfect for us at this point in time, the one thing that most “modest” homes don’t have is a lot of storage. Everything “seasonal” for us needs to fit in our little 2×3’ storage unit that the complex provides for us. This requires me to 1) limit what I buy year to year and 2) think smart. I want to make sure the items I am buying will last me more than just a couple of years before falling apart. While I do go buy a few pumpkins from Trader Joes to decorate the inside of our home, most of our items are reusable and simplistic.
Three Affordable Fall Home Decor Options
Outside of plants and pumpkins, which, by the way, all go bad in a shortish period of time, there are three items I am going to recommend you invest a small amount of money in for fall.
Festive, Affordable Fall Doormats

Though I feel decorating for seasons can be festive and fun, a lot of times I feel as though people do it to impress one another rather than for themselves. A doormat can make you feel good and your neighbors feel good when walking into your place. They are also affordable and can last year after year.

Nothing makes me happier than shifting my summer wreath to my autumn one. The yellow leaves (especially next to my fall doormat!) make me feel like it is officially fall. Living in Texas, this is what we MUST do to get those vibes going on time.
Fall Candles
I know I may catch some heat for this, but my FAVORITE way to transition from summer to fall is a good candle. Scents put me in the mood for any occasion. Fall is no exception. The best thing about a candle is it can transport people to places of nestalgia just by sitting in the corner. You don’t need over the top decor if you have a candle lit. You can sit and simply be.
