My Thoughts on the Nordstrom Sale
One probably assumes that just because I am a blogger that I should be getting all excited about buying new things/linking and creating guides. If things were normal right now, you’d probably be right.
Because of where our economy is, I am happy that people are excited about something that will stimulate it in any way. Personally, though, I am not going to be using the sale to buy anything extreme. I’m not going to be going into the store physically, and I’m sure as heck not going to be going into the dressing rooms to take photos in clothes I’m not actually buying. This is not me shaming those who do that – you do you – but I just want to provide you all with a certain level of transparency from me.
Why my Links are Important
Commission
On another level of transparency, the reason all bloggers are covering the N Sale is because we get a small commission with purchases from it… but not all purchases.
Myself, and every other blogger covering the sale, spend hours creating for it. It is a lot more work than one would expect. BUT if you create a wishlist from my stuff below and then go back and check out when your status opens up, I won’t get credit. This goes for all bloggers out there – the links expire.
How the Commission Works
What you need to do to support me (or any other blogger):
Before you check out for the sale, think about who’s guides you used the most. Go to their page, click a link (even if it isn’t something you’re buying!) and then checkout. The last blogger link you click will be the one who gets the commission.
So, with that being said, I encourage you to support a smaller blogger who spent the time creating but won’t be reaping a thousand dollar paycheck from the sale. All it takes is a link click. My sweet friend Hannah sums it up nicely here as well if you need some additional insight. She also has great lists.
What I am Shopping for at the N Sale (and why)
So this year I am shopping a little bit different. Rather than going ham and buying all of the clothes, booties, etc in the world, I am taking the time to carefully choose items. This very small, but select list, includes:

There is no reason not to go ahead and buy my favorite items during the sale! I know I will be using them. All of these items are tried and true and have my full support.
Kiehls Face Wash – Harry and I both use this face wash, and it is the best one I’ve found. It is cleansing without being drying. His skin is oily and it does just as good of a job on him as it does on mine which is combo/dry. This is a high recommendation
Oribe Dry Shampoo and Texture Spray – Full transparency: I have never tried the Oribe dry shampoo, but I have heard good things. The texture spray is one of my favorites though, so I am looking forward to buying it on sale.
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk – This is one of my go-to lipsticks that can be worn anywhere, including the office.
Urban Decay All Nighter Spray – I go through this stuff like crazy when I am putting on makeup every day. For the price I need to stock up!
Sugar Lip Kit – I already love the Sugar Rose and the Sugar Fresh, so I know I will love the Carmel as well. You get all 3 for the price of what 1.5 usually cost, so it’s a great deal.
Jack Black Face Moisturizer – This is Harry’s favorite moisturizer, so of course we are going to stock up when it is at any sort of a discount whatsoever. I believe this is the biggest size this particular product comes in, so I also trust it will last a while.
Wardrobe Staples
There are a few good deals in the Nordy sale this year that I am impressed with. Though I truly don’t have the budget to go all out, there are some items I am super excited about.
Please note: Things that go fast at the sale often get restocked! So do not lose hope if things you want are gone.
Flutter Sleeve Blue and White Top – This top is so versatile – it can be worn to work or with white jeans in the spring. I love the high neck and the sleeves.
Croc Slip on Sandal – I need a new go-to sandal that is versatile, and these look like the perfect ones! They are so timeless I’ll be able to wear them year in and out with no problem at all
Ribbed Mini Dress – This dress comes in black and white, and can be dressed up or down. I love that it is a staple you can wear every season of the year.
Edge Adidas Running Shoe – I’ve been needing new workout shoes so badly, but they are such a painful thing to buy. The price on these is perfect, and so low it won’t hurt to commit.
Free People Henley Tee – I am obsessed with this tee for the fall – it is (again) such a great layering piece. Since I live in Texas where it rarely gets that cold, it will become one of my most worn items guaranteed.
Other Ways to Shop the Sale
Christmas Shop Early
There are so many amazing deals going on during the N Sale, so why not start looking into items for your family and coworkers that otherwise wouldn’t fit into your budget.
If you can afford to do this at this time, it will save you money down the road, which is always a plus to me.
Some of my favorites for friends / coworkers:
Kate Spade Earrings – you can never go wrong with a designer gift priced at $20
Anthropologie Candle – this is one of my top candles ever. They last forever and smell so good! This is the perfect gift for your best friends – pair with a bottle of wine and you are ready to go!
Mac Lipstick Minis – The lipsticks would make the absolute best stocking stuffers for your mom, sister, cousins, in laws… you get the picture. You also could add them to the wine-and-Anthropologie candle bundle I mentioned above and become the greatest friend ever. Plus there are enough that you can probably keep one for yourself 😉 Same goes for things like the J Malone minis collection.
Nest Candles – Pro tip – items such as the candles can be divided up and given to multiple people! Just one set and all of a sudden you have gifts for 3 of your coworkers done and overs.
Buy for an Upcoming Wedding Shower
We all know 2021 (and 2022) are going to be wedding packed years after the 2020 debacle – so why not save on gifts for the couples? There are lots of home items that are available that will fit into any and all homes.
Give a Gift to Someone you know Needs it
We all have our own hardships in some form or fashion – why not help someone who has been going through a rough patch have a better day? Even the smallest gift and a note can make someone who hasn’t been feeling their best feel so much better.
