What to wear cozy date night at home

Comfy Valentine’s Day Outfits

A fun fact about me and my fiance Harry: we have never gone out on actual Valentine’s Day. Seriously. Never once. We typically will pick a date to go out a few weeks before or after the big day, but never on the actual holiday. That said, we have our own tradition.

Every year on Valentine’s Day, we dress in cozy outfits and watch a movie over pizza and wine. Something tells me this year isn’t going to be any different because, you know… pandemic. It allows us to save money, be our best selves, and, best of all, hang out with our adorable corgi Winston.

Whether you are celebrating with your significant other or a friend or two, you deserve the day to be special. With that being said, let’s talk cozy Valentine’s Day. How are you going to celebrate and, better yet, how are you going to make yourself feel loved?

How to Make Your Cozy Valentine's Day Special

If there is one thing this pandemic has taught me, it’s that you don’t have to leave your house to get dressed up. Putting on makeup or an outfit you love is something that’ll make you feel confident and the night more memorable! It’s a holiday – you have to do it!

Every year when Harry and I celebrate at home, I always make an effort to at least put on a little makeup and something cute / festive. This gets me in the spirit to do something fun and celebrate. I’m not saying to put on a sequined dress or heels like if you were going to dinner.

From there, cook something together (or support small businesses and order in), curl up on the couch, and enjoy one another. The best thing about a low key Valentine’s Day is that you can do whatever you want. Make the night into a game night, a movie marathon, or just a night about the two of you.

Cozy Outfit Ideas for Spending Valentine's Day In

I have to admit, I love a good oversized t-shirt as much as the next person. For a holiday, though, it is worth it to change things up a bit. Be comfy and cozy, but maybe put a little effort into it.

Cozy Outfit Suggestion 1: Sweater Dress

I loveee a good sweater dress. In fact, I just published an article of my favorites de jour (click here to check it out) on my fashion tab.  Fun fact: the one I am wearing in these photos is one of them.

Sweater dresses allow you to be cute but also cozy. I wear mine repeatedly throughout the cooler months of the year. For date night at home, put one on with your fav pair of fuzzy socks for a warm and comfy vibe.

I found this particular pair of velvet joggers on Amazon. Though originally intended for our chill New Year’s Eve, they came in the mail late so now they will be my Valentine’s at home date night wear. Joggers are amazing, especially in a neutral color like this. At another time, I can see myself dressing them up with heels and a leather jacket to hit up the town.

Cozy Outfit Suggestion 3: Matching Sets

Matching Sets for Valentines Day

Shop the look (click to shop): One | Two | Three | Four

A matching set can never fail. You know what you put on will go together (no duh) and you can pick one that really reflects your personality. This set can be special for Valentines Day, or one you already had in your closet. No matter what, you know you will wear it again to feel “put together” running to the grocery store.
