High Quality Sweater Dresses
Sweater dresses are all the rage this year and I am here. For. It. There are so many out there now that I have become a snob trying to find the best ones. My favorites can be worn alone, with boots or booties in the fall, with tights and a jacket in the winter, or with heels to work 9 months out of the year (or 6 if you live in Texas). I recently paired mine with my fav envelope clutch for a date night with Harry.
What Makes these my Go To Sweater Dresses
Though I own more of these dresses than I care to admit, there are two specific brands I go back to over and over. What makes them repeat wears? Why are they my go-to’s?
The quality of material – a lot of sweaters and sweater dresses I have bought in the past have pilled or shrunk. My favorites listed below are made out of quality materials that have lasted decent lengths of time.
The cost to wear ratio – Sweater dresses are amazing because they are so versatile. You can layer and style them so many different ways. That being said, if you order one that is an odd color or doesn’t fit right, you are going to be less likely to wear it over other items in your closet. It is worth taking the time to think about what you are buying rather than just selecting “add to cart”.
The overall fit – I do not know why this is, but for some reason a lot of sweater dresses are… insanely short? Randomly tight in the neck? Cut so the bottom is tighter than the middle? You know what I’m talking about. Cut matters big time, and my favorites are built to fit and last.
My Favorite Affordable Sweater Dresses
As I often say in my fashion column on my blog, things as simple as sweater dresses aren’t worth spending your life savings on, but it is worth finding ones that will last you longer than a single season of life. Both of the options I have listed below are budget friendly. The photos I am including are of me wearing them. I am 5’6 and got my true size in both.
I just recently started shopping on Amazon fashion and I have been impressed with the quality of the items I have found, especially for the cost! My pink sweater dress is no exception.
Why will you love it as much as I do?
It’s soft, even after being washed (yes – you can throw it in the washing machine)! The neck is the perfect width – not too tight or too long. I like to wear it either bunched or folded over. It comes in a wide variety of colors, so you can pick one that fits your skin tone and style the best.
The description says the dress is supposed to fit a little oversized, but I don’t feel that is necessarily the case. My recommendation would be to size up if you are wanting that actual “oversized” vibe.
I own this dress in both the brown (pictured) and black. These are my original sweater dresses. I have owned them for years, proving they stand the test of time. In such versatile colors, they go with everything and are extremely warm. I love to curl up in them and read a book or watch a show. They also are a great option for Zoom call meetings because they are both comfortable and modest!
