Your FAQs answered about themed bachelorette parties

Why have a theme?

Because it’s fun! Having a theme for the bachelorette party brings the group together and gives everyone additional common ground. A lot of times when the bridal party gets together, not everyone knows each other, causing some awkwardness. Once you get past the basic, “How do you know the bride?” conversation, the talk goes flat. Having the themed costumes / outfits gives everyone a chance to be creative while participating in a group event… celebrating the bride to be!

How many themed outfits will I have per party?

Bachelorette parties are expensive (according to Weddingwire, the average two day bachelorette party is $579 per party goer). Because of this, I personally think one themed day is enough, with some exceptions. If the bride wants everyone to wear black one night, odds are you own a piece of black clothing that fits the bill. So asking you to pack black on top of a costume is really no big deal. If, on the other hand, she wants you to purchase items for multiple costumes or themes, I would recommend talking to the maid of honor about having a conversation with the future bride. This is a bachelorette, not Christian summer camp. You don’t need 7 different identities to be included.

and last but not least…

How do I make the most of my themed outfit?

I recommend buying a dress that you really love (and will wear again) and then accessorizing from there. This away, you’re not spending a ton of money on a costume. Rather, you’re spending money on a dress you love and then just $20ish to accessorize it to the theme.

Last Ride before Bride

disco ball and cowboy hats

She Found her Cowboy!

This is a theme I have been seeing more and more in the past couple years thanks to Kacey Musgraves. It’s quirky, and it gives everyone a reason to go all out.

Outfit: Ramp up your outfit with white or black sleek cowboy boots and a light up cowgirl hat (or this silver one, if you’re feeling spicy). If you really want to go all out, give these silver false lashes a whirl.

If you’re not feeling a dress, this fringe one shoulder bodysuit paired with metallic pants is a fabulous second option. You may even find other ways to wear both the pants and the bodysuit again!

Decor: Hang silver tinsel all over for an affordable, disco space glow. Accentuate with a holographic bride-to-be banner and iridescent star strands dangling from the ceiling. Make things over the top with a cheap disco light, a speaker, and these amazing glitter beach balls. Talk about a dance party (that doesn’t cost $10 per drink)! Turn off the lights and add glow sticks and these glow-in-the-dark shot glasses to the mix for some extra flair!

For the Bride: Give the bride what she needs! This feather trimmed, white, glowing cowboy hat comes complete with a tiara, and this silver face glitter is under $7 and perfect for everyone to up their looks.

Mermaid Themed Bachelorette Party

The Last Splash

There’s nothing quite like a mermaid theme, especially when you know you’ll be spending most of your time on the beach or by the pool!

Outfit: Glitter is a girl’s best friend, so wear it all over. Throw on an Ariel approved wig with some pearls, because you’re a classy fish of the sea. Top everything off with a sash that matches the theme.

Decor: Pop bubbles for the bride! Set up a “mermosa” bar to get the party started. Pair these glittery balloons with a teal and purple photo wall. Use this ocean wave projector to really bring things over the top.

It’s not a tagline unless you post it – hang these Last Splash balloons above the bride’s bed to make everything officially official. Want one final activity? Take these last splash dare cards with you on a night out to make the night even more fun.

For the Bride: She needs a white glittery dress and a flower strung veil to match the theme. Here is the perfect one.

Lemon / Italian Amalfi Coast Theme

She found her main squeeze

She Found Her Main Squeeze

This is the most refreshing theme for a beach bachelorette that I ever did see! It brings me back to sipping limoncello on the water in Positano.

Outfit: Unlike the other themes discussed here, I feel like this one really speaks for itself

Decor: For decor, This banner is so fun yet elegant. It would brighten up the room in any situation. Get these in theme activity cards for a fun game night (they come with a sash)! Sip mimosas out of these adorable Italian lemon can holders (and be sure to add this sign in the kitchen to make every room feel like paradise).

For the Bride: The bride needs this custom lemon towel to remember her special trip. Give it to her there to use or after you return home as some happy mail to make her day.
