Our Wedding Reception Decor
I have been SO excited to write this article on our wedding reception decor and color scheme! When I first met with our planner, I told her I wanted the evening to be dreamy and romantic. That said, the only things I really brought to the table that first meeting were my colors, flowers, and the fact I wanted candles to be incorporated. I had a very specific vision, but it was one that I couldn’t quite describe (if that makes any sense). Luckily, our planner, Melanie, managed to make all of my thoughts and dreams come to life in the most elegant, beautiful way. In today’s article, I am going to be sharing all of those beautiful moments with you through photos and with descriptions of our goals, flowers, cakes, and more!
Wedding Reception Goals
Harry said it first, but I completely agree with him: our “goal” for our reception was to give our friends options. We’ve both been to some incredible weddings that were extremely structured, but in the end that’s not our style.
We wanted people to be able to go where they wanted, do what they wanted, and eat what and when they wanted. Though we had to transition to a served buffet due to COVID, I am SO glad that is the route we took! People look down on buffets often as a “cheaper option” (I know I did at first), but really it just adds to the flexibility of the evening. We had a few last minute no shows. If I had done a seated dinner, I know I would have been obsessing about redoing the seating chart rather than trying to destress leading up to the big day.
Reception Decor
The venue, as I mentioned above, turned out better than I could have pictured in my wildest dreams. Candles sparkled as we twirled and danced (a lot) surrounded by all the gardenias I could have possibly imagined.

Though I absolutely loved everything about the cake process, my favorite part was getting to surprise Harry with his corgi groom cake! It was replicated to look exactly like our corgi, Winston!
