Tips and Tricks for Packing Clothes for a Vacay
I have a full article with more in depth tips and tricks for packing for vacay (click here). BUT, here is a condensed version of what is stated there!
1 - Plan your outfits out in advance
This is what we are going to be doing here today! Follow my outfit guides below and shop / put aside pieces as you go. I typically plan my outfits out in this order:
- Assess – think about what you will be doing that day (swimming, going to dinner, etc.) and plan outfits for each adventure accordingly.
- Decide the focus – pick out the main piece you KNOW you want to wear for each of your outfits
- Use the focus as a guide – revolve all other aspects of the outfit around the “focus” item
- Accessorize – use this as an opportunity to glam items up!
- Finalize – This is the step I think most people forget, and it is one of the most important! Think about what other things are needed to complete the look, including undergarments
Check out my packing guide for a full and more detailed version of this plan.
2 - Cut down on excess items
This helps keep you from overpacking! Find ways to rewear items you don’t consider “the focus” – the EASIEST way to do this is by re-wearing shoes, purses, hats, accessories, and swimsuits. Remember to be realistic … if you’re going on a four day trip, you don’t need eight bikinis.
3 - Try on clothing items that are new or you haven’t worn recently.
Just because you were the same size last summer doesn’t mean that dress you bought then is going to still flatter you now. Save yourself upset (and packing space) by trying on items you haven’t worn in a while.
4 - Make note of / take pictures of EVERYTHING you are packing, including your suitcase once it is fully packed.
I can’t tell you how many times this has saved me from forgetting something left to dry on a balcony or in a random drawer.
5 - Keep your items consolidated and organized while on the trip.
The BEST thing I ever started doing for myself on trips was taking the 15 minutes to unpack and put items in drawers, on hangers, etc. Not only did this keep me from having to steam things a million times from being wrinkled in my suitcase, but it also helped me when it came to packing at the end of the trip *this is key*.

Outfit Inspo for your Coastal Vacay
Look 1: Beach Day by the Ocean
Swimsuit | Bag | Sandals | Sunglasses | Tinted Sunscreen
Nothing makes me happier than a beach day by the ocean. The sound of the waves, the exfoliation of the sand … everything about it is absolutely relaxing and fabulous. For this outfit, I paired a cute, vibrant one piece suit with a brightly colored bag that can’t get lost in the sand. Add on some affordable sunnies and fabulous sandals and you are ready to hit the beach!
Look 2: Dinner Oceanside
I wanted this look to be romantic and neutral. The accessories truly pull everything together and make it the most vibey vacay look!
Look 3: Pool Day
Swimsuit | Sarong | Bracelets | Bag | Sunscreen Glow Oil
A good pool day is typically needed after a long night out. Soak up the sun without a care in the world. This suit is a great one to pack if you need something to wear on repeat … simply switch up your sarongs for packing ease!
Look 4: Shoreline Photos
One of my favorite things about a beach vacay are the stunning golden hour photos on the beach with the endless water and waves in the background. A loose midi or maxi dress would effortlessly flow with the beach breeze, making an effortlessly glam look. Green neutralizes the color of red, so it is always a great bet if you are someone that sometimes burns!
